Pomona College is looking for an Associate Director Financial Aid to assist the Director Financial Aid with the overall administration of the comprehensive need-blind financial aid program for the College.  The Associate Director will be responsible for the administration of the financial aid program, with primary focus on the day-to-day oversight and management of the PowerFAIDS financial aid module, manages endowed restricted scholarships, and manages a case file of approximately 350 students.  Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Aid, the
Associate Director will review, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures and standards to ensure departmental compliance with institutional, federal, and state guidelines and objectives. The Associate Director will also evaluate, implement, and execute all existing software as well as new and emerging electronic technologies as they relate to the financial aid office.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience working in financial aid or a related field. Candidate must have the ability to counsel and provide high quality customer service to prospective students and families. Candidate must be able to interpret federal and state regulations in relation to Financial Aid office functions.

Outdoor Education Coordinator (OEC)

Pomona College is looking for a Graduate Assistant to serve as a staff member for the Outdoor Education Center (OEC). This position will help support and oversee a portion of the OEC programming and facilitate ongoing programming for Pomona College students and help the OEC with general programming for the entire campus community. The Graduate Assistant will assist in the overall training of outdoor leaders (leadership, communication, and programming skills), plan and facilitate OEC programs, supervise production of OEC events, attend and assist with Orientation Adventure Program; assist with Outdoor Education Center Open House, Wilderness Medicine Workshops, Activity Training Workshops specifically in Rock Climbing, Kayaking and winter travel. The Graduate Assistant will also conduct risk assessment and pursue accreditation from Association for Experiential Education, develop and implement an outdoor leader certification program and attend the National Conference (AORE) and represent Pomona College.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Campus Administration, or related field (or currently enrolled). Background in outdoor recreation or related experience is preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required. Applicants should possess a commitment to an outdoor education and environmental ethics philosophy and an understanding of how to meet the cultural, social and recreational needs of the campus community as well as values supportive of and compatible with the principles of a liberal arts institution.

Pomona College is looking for a Cook 1 to join the Dining Services Team. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef and secondarily to the Sous Chef/Manager, the Cook 1 prepares customer meal requests using the “Cook to Order” cooking system primarily at the grill services, exhibition, and pizza areas of assigned Dining Halls at Pomona College.  This position serves as a prep and helper cook in the kitchen and in service areas.  The Cook 1 operates a variety of kitchen equipment and tools to cook, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, shred meats, fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.  This position will trim, cut meats, poultry, and fish by incorporating HACCP and PPE procedures in kitchen production areas.  While following numerous recipes, the Cook 1 will also season, marinate, cook, taste, carve, and serve soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts. The Cook 1will assist with catering production as assigned.

Requirements: Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to High School Diploma or GED that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability. Must take and successfully pass the California Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire and successfully recertify every 3 years.  A valid driver’s license is essential to drive College-owned vehicles. Experience with food production assignments and staff supervision in a kitchen at an academic institution is preferred. Must take and successfully pass a functional capacity test after job offer and prior to hire.

Admissions Data Specialist

Pomona College is looking for a Data Specialist to work in the Admissions Office. The Data Specialist assists with maintaining the integrity of the Admissions Information System and is responsible for processing, storing, analyzing, and preparing data for output, and providing technical support to internal and external audiences. Reporting directly to the Admissions Information Systems Manager, the Data Specialist will extract data from external sources (ETS/ACT/Common Application), load and process through CX, assuring validity and quality of data.  Identify source data layout changes and map changes to CX tables, validate inquire data submitted via the Pomona College Website, and external sources, including Zinch, Cappex, and Hobsons, administer portal access and accounts for inquire, applicants, enrolling students, and staff. This position will create, update, and maintain student and organization records, identify problems with the Admissions module and provide written documentation of problems, prepare documentation of changes and procedures for end-users, assist with training Admissions Office personnel in the proper and appropriate use of CX including update trainings for upgrades and changes in programs and test and authenticate changes to the database, reports, or other technical functions as required by the AISM or Information Technology Services (ITS). The Data Specialist will also develop a catalog of the most frequently used management information reports as needed by Admissions leadership and as specified for program management.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of increasing responsibility in databases is required.  Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS), such as Jenzabar CX, database management, and strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Candidate must deploy professional skills in information technology and applications management, in collaboration with colleagues to best promote the College’s strategic interests. Demonstrate effectiveness and clarity of verbal and written communication with excellent interpersonal communication and phone manners.  Candidate must be able to handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience, discretion, tact, and a keen eye for detail while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Overtime, holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required.

Document Management Specialist

Pomona College is looking for a Document Management Specialist who can work in a team environment with clients and the Information Systems team in the ITS Department. This position will be responsible for all aspects of system development, operations, maintenance and production processing for the document management system. The Document Management Specialist will apply expertise in document management and workflow design, investigate and analyze the feasibility of program requirements, and develop document management specifications. Reporting directly to the Director Information Systems, the Document Management Specialist will analyze needs, assist with the design, writing and testing new document management and workflow solutions.  This position will lead the ongoing design, development and implementation of the Document Management infrastructure and ensure the stability and reliability of the document management system through the use of exemplary system administration policies and procedures. This position will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, act as the focal point for discussions and the solution of technical problems with the Document Management system. This position will also develop & maintain document management indexing, queries, forms and workflows, and troubleshoot document management system issues.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience managing a document management system is required. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a systems administrator for a Windows server running mission critical applications based upon Microsoft SQL Server is desirable. Demonstrated ability to configure and maintain workflow in support of a critical production system. Candidate must have demonstrated ability to consult with staff to determine business requirements, functional requirements and input/output requirements.  Working knowledge of OnBase document management software and Jenzabar CX is preferred.  Experience at an academic institution is preferred.
