Jonathan Lethem, Disney Professor of Creative Writing, Reads From His Short Story "The Empty Room" on NPR's "Selected Shorts"
Jonathan Lethem, Disney Professor of Creative Writing, read from his short story "The Empty Room" on the Dec. 9 NPR's "Selected Shorts" program. The show featured three stories that explore both the physical spaces we inhabit, and how those spaces are tied to the more mysterious, emotional places in our lives. Lethem’s “The Empty Room” invites each member of a family to reinvent themselves in an uncluttered space. The other two stories featured were Raymond Carver classics: In “Why Don’t You Dance” a man turns his house inside out, and in “Neighbors” a couple engages in risky behavior in their neighbors’ apartment.
