Sam Starr '10 and Pomona College are prominently featured in the May 17 "L.A. Times" article "Capping off college with senior projects," an examination of "capstone" or senior thesis projects. Increasingly common at colleges, especially liberal arts colleges, senior thesis projects make students synthesize different courses and ""to drill down into a particular field or subject" says VP and Dean of the College Cecilia Conrad in the article. The article also features projects by Charlotte Chang '10 and Fowler Brown '10. Starr's project, a working bicycle velodome built in the decommissioned Seeley G. Mudd Science building, will be the subject of an upcoming video on the Pomona.edu website.
