New Director of the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement Monika Moore ’03
Today, Pomona College announced that Monika Moore, a proud 2003 graduate of the College, has been named the new Director of Alumni and Family Engagement. Moore was selected from a competitive search pool and will begin her position on March 18, 2024.
Moore will be an integral member of the senior Advancement team responsible for developing and implementing strategic oversight of Pomona College’s growing alumni and family engagement program. As a visible and proactive partner with the Sagehen community, Moore joins Pomona during a time of growth and discovery as the campus prepares for an ambitious comprehensive campaign. Moore and her team will further strengthen Pomona’s expansive and inclusive portfolio of activities and programs that engage the College’s global network of alumni, parents, families and volunteers. Working in close partnership with faculty, staff, and alumni and family leaders — including the Pomona College Alumni Association Board, Alumni Association Past Presidents Council and Family Leadership Council — Moore will lead efforts to re-envision events and programming, celebrate Pomona’s steeped traditions and create elevated opportunities for engagement locally, regionally and globally.

Moore’s introduction to and passion for alumni relations began as a student worker in Pomona’s alumni office, located in Seaver House, during her first year at the College. Over the past two decades, Moore has gained broad leadership experience in a range of alumni and constituent programs including Claremont Graduate University, University of La Verne and Occidental College. Most recently, at Scripps College, Moore has effectively restructured the college’s stewardship efforts, implementing policies and procedures to reestablish and strengthen the program.
“I am thrilled to be returning to my alma mater at this crucial time for the institution and for higher education,” said Moore. “The opportunity to bring over two decades of experience in engagement back to Pomona is truly a privilege. I look forward to reconnecting with the alumni I’ve met over the years and getting to know the many alumni and families that are a part of this incredible community. I cannot wait to come home. In addition to earning a Bachelor of Arts in politics from Pomona College, Moore has a Master of Arts degree in management from Claremont Graduate University. Moore is an active volunteer for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), serving as a faculty member for the Donor Relations Professionals Conference since 2022, as a member of the District VII Cabinet since 2023 and as a member of the steering committee for the upcoming 2024 joint District VII and VIII conference.
During the search process, Pomona’s Office of Alumni and Family Engagement was helmed by interim Co-Directors Ryan Kolter and Kalyn Rose Miller. “My sincere thanks to Ryan and Kalyn Rose for stepping up to lead this area,” said Watson. “Throughout their tenure as interim directors, they engaged our Sagehen community in a robust series of events and programs, further strengthened relationships with campus partners and showed up each day as dedicated leaders committed to serving our alumni and families. We are so fortunate to have their talents on our team, and I am grateful for their service.”
Watson continued, “I would also like to thank Alumni Association Board President Alfredo Romero ’91; Alumni Association Board President-Elect Andrea Venezia ’91; Alumni Association Board Past President Council Co-Chairs Josephine “Dodie” Bump ‘76 and Catherine Rose ’85 P’19; Family Leadership Council Chair Liz Olson P’23 P’26; Frank Albinder ’80 and Nancy Treser-Osgood ’80, along with faculty and staff, for their service in the search process and their help in selecting Monika from a national pool of high-caliber candidates.”
