Give to the Annual Fund

You and your classmates can join together at Reunion to celebrate this special anniversary and your lifelong relationship with the College, and to make a difference for every Pomona student.

Q: What is a gift?
A: Class Reunion Funds are a special component of the Pomona College Annual Fund that seeks increased support from those classes celebrating a reunion. Last year, alumni, parents and friends contributed $5.1 million to The Annual Fund, 33% of which came from those celebrating reunions. The Annual Fund provides unrestricted funds to support the College's highest priorities, including student scholarship support, curriculum development, faculty salaries, and campus maintenance.

Q: How will my gift make a difference?
A: As part of The Annual Fund, unrestricted class reunion gifts help cover the cost of running Pomona College. Because tuition and fees only cover approximately 60% of the actual cost of each student's education, the College looks to alumni - along with parents and friends - to help make the difference. Your contribution to The Pomona College Annual Fund supports:

  • a highly qualified student body
  • a faculty of distinguished teachers
  • a guarantee of need-blind admission
  • exceptional campus facilities
  • an enriching residential student life.

Q: Why am I being asked to give during my reunion year?
A: Pomona College depends on the generosity, enthusiasm, and class camaraderie and spirit of its reunion classes to anchor The Annual Fund. Successful reunion classes set the pace for The Annual Fund, and help to inspire other classes through their Class Reunion Fund campaigns. Your class gift, along with those of other reunion classes, will have a profound impact on the College's ability to continue to offer a premier liberal arts education.

Q: How much should I give?
A: Your participation matters most. Everyone is encouraged to participate in her or his reunion class gift. Levels of support will vary from class to class, and from person to person, but your class fund chairs will likely ask for a "stretch" gift from everyone in the class. Some of those gifts will qualify the donors for membership in one of Pomona's gift clubs.

Please remember, every gift - no matter the size - is meaningful to the College. If you are not able to make a gift at one of the gift club levels, or if you have not been a regular supporter of The Annual Fund, we hope you will consider participating in your class reunion fund. Reunion Gift Records are set based on both dollars and participation rates, so every gift is significant!

Q: When should I make my gift?
A: The Annual Fund fiscal year begins July 1 and ends June 30. All gifts must be received between those dates in order to be counted in your class reunion gift totals.

Q: How can I make my gift?
A: Pomona College accepts cash, checks, credit cards and gifts of securities.

Q: What about corporate matching gifts?
A: Matching gifts are dollars matched by employers in response to charitable contributions made by employees. Retirees, as well as spouses and domestic partners of employees often are also eligible for corporate matching gifts. To find out if your employer is a matching gift company, please contact your personnel or human resources office. Many companies will match employee contributions, in some cases doubling or even tripling your gift. Retirees and spouses of employees often also are eligible for corporate matching gifts.

  • Obtain Matching Gift forms from your Personnel Office
  • Complete the Matching Gift form (or complete your employer's on line web form)
  • Return the Matching Gift form, along with your contribution to Pomona College.

Matching gifts can help you qualify for Annual Fund Gift Clubs.
