The Office of Financial Aid at Pomona College awards a
limited number of one-time fellowships to
graduating Pomona seniors and alumni on a competitive basis.
Applicants must use the common application provided by the
Office of Financial Aid. The deadline to apply in
2007-2008 is April 4, 2008. You may download the
application and
recommendation
forms or pick up hard copies in the Office of Financial Aid.
Henry Martyn Bracken and Emily Robinson
Bracken Fellowship
Eligibility: Pomona College graduates enrolling at
the Claremont Graduate University (CGU) are eligible to
apply for this one-time fellowship to assist in the payment
of their CGU fees.
Restrictions: The fund assists in the payment of fees
at CGU.
Stipend/Benefits: This one-time award typically
ranges from $1,500 to $2,000, depending upon the number of
qualified applicants and available income. Funds are
sent directly to CGU on behalf of the recipient.
Bessie Reiner Dill Award
Eligibility: Pomona College women seniors or
graduates who have applied to enroll in a Master of Arts or
Doctoral Program in science, business, law, or medicine.
Restrictions: Educational expenses in a degree
program as described above.
Stipend/Benefits: The stipend will be approximately
$1,500, depending on the fund's earnings. Funds are paid
directly to the institution on behalf of the recipient.
Sherwood Heiser Fellowship
Eligibility: Pomona College graduates or graduating
seniors accepted by an accredited school for advanced degree
work.
Restrictions: Preference is given to Pomona graduates
who are also graduates of the Punahou School, Honolulu,
Hawaii.
Stipend/Benefits: This award typically ranges from
$2,000 to $2,500, depending on the fund's earnings. Funds
are sent directly to the institution on behalf of the
recipient.
William Lincoln Honnold Fellowship
Eligibility: Pomona College graduates who have
completed four (4) full years of study at Pomona and have
applied to graduate school.
Restrictions: The purpose of this fellowship is to
promote scholarship and scholarly work. Preference is given
for graduate study in the area of the liberal arts and
social sciences, as opposed to professional studies in law,
medicine, business, engineering, et cetera.
Stipend/Benefits: The award depends on the number of
qualified candidates and the availability of funds.
Awards typically range from $1,000 to $2,500, and funds are
sent directly to the institution on behalf of the recipient.
Criteria: Applicants must be rated in the upper half
of their graduating class on the basis of junior and senior
grades. They must show scholarly promise, industry,
reliability, and character.
Application Procedures:
During the application period, applicants must complete an
application and submit:
- A personal statement outlining their graduate
plans.
- A copy of their transcript. An unofficial
copy is sufficient.
- At least two letters of recommendation.
The deadline for receipt is April 4, 2008.
