 |
Chris P. Dialynas, a managing director, portfolio manager,
and senior member of PIMCO, has been elected to the Board of
Trustees of Pomona College, one the nation's top-ranked
liberal arts colleges. Among his volunteer activities as an
alumnus, he served as a member of the college’s National
Campaign Committee from 1996 to 2002 and as president of the
college’s Kappa Delta Alumni Association.
Dialynas graduated from Pomona College in 1976 with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. As an undergraduate,
he played both varsity football and varsity baseball and was
a member of the Kappa Delta fraternity. Following his
graduation from Pomona, he worked for Bank of America before
earning his Master’s of Business Administration degree in
1979 at the University of Chicago.
In 1980, Dialynas began his long association with PIMCO, one
of the world’s leading fixed-income fund-management
companies. Starting as an investment analyst, Dialynas rose
through the ranks to become a managing director in 1987.
After a four-year sabbatical that began in 1993, he returned
to the company as a managing director/portfolio manager,
with responsibility for investing several billion dollars in
assets for pension plans, endowments, foundations, unions
and foreign institutions in the global bond market. Newport
Beach-based PIMCO manages nearly $600 billion worldwide and
has offices in New York, Toronto, London, Sydney, Singapore,
and Tokyo. PIMCO manages America’s largest bond fund, the
PIMCO Total Return Fund, with nearly $80 billion in assets
under management.
Dialynas, who has 24 years of investment experience, has
written extensively on the topic of fixed income investing
and served for several years on the Editorial Board of The
Journal of Portfolio Management. He also served as a member
of the Fixed Income Curriculum Committee of the Association
for Investment Management and Research from 1994 to 1996.
A resident of Newport Coast, Dialynas is married to Sheri
Horne, and they have three children. His brother Nick P.
Dialynas is also a member of the Pomona family, graduating
in the Class of 1978.
