All of The Claremont Colleges have graduation on the same weekend, and accommodations for out-of-town guests are sometimes scarce. It is best to make reservations early. A list of nearby hotels can be found here. Please contact the hotel directly for reservations.
Senior Salute (February 26)
The Senior Salute is an event sponsored by the Senior Class President, Smith Campus Center, Josten’s, and Collegiate Cap and Gown. Seniors may take care of many Commencement details in one place and one time. Graduating seniors order caps and gowns, class rings, diploma frames, announcement and Commencement DVDs, and meet with the Alumni, Annual Giving, and Career Development staff.
September and December Graduates who are unable to attend the Senior Salute may order caps and gowns at the Coop Store, or by contacting Brenda Schmit or 909-621-8984.
Caps and Gowns
Caps and gowns will be distributed a few weeks prior to Commencement (Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6 in SCC 235 between 1pm to 4pm). They will be collected on Stover Walk immediately after Commencement.
Seniors may purchase announcements at the Senior Salute or www.jostens.com.
Seniors may order diploma frames at the Senior Salute, the Coop Store (909-607-2264) or www.framingsuccess.com.
Rehearsal is mandatory for all seniors participating in Commencement exercises. Seniors must assemble promptly at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, on Stover Walk. Each student will receive a line and seating assignment. Diplomas are presented according to seating assignment.
On-Screen Viewing, Live Streaming, DVDs & Photographs
A large-screen, direct audio-visual feed is available during the ceremony in air-conditioned Bridges Hall of Music. The entire ceremony will be streamed live from www.pomona.edu/commencement.
DVDs of the Commencement ceremony are available for purchase. Order forms were mailed out with Senior Salute packets, but you may download the form here [pdf] . The DVDs will be mailed in late July. A photographer will be present at the ceremony to photograph seniors as they receive their diplomas. After Commencement, photograph order forms will be mailed to the graduate’s permanent address.
Guests attending the ceremony in wheelchairs or requiring a Sign Language interpreter should contact the President’s Office. A wheelchair accessible seating area will be available near the northeast corner of the venue for special needs guests and one attendant.
