General Emergency Procedures:
In an emergency, first dial 72000 to report the event to Campus Safety.
Bomb Threats
- Ask the caller questions: Where? When? What does it
look like?
- Write everything said and listen for background noise,
voice characteristics, etc.
- Report threat immediately to Campus Security at 72000.
- Evacuate 100 yards from the area threatened.
Earthquake
- Take cover under a desk or table, protect your body
especially your head and neck.
- Stay away from windows and objects that may fall.
- Do not run outside.
- If outdoors stay in an open area.
- After shaking stops, evacuate to your designated
evacuation area.
Evacuation in case of Fire
or Hazardous Materials Spill
- Calmly notify people in your area of the need to
evacuate (use fire alarms if possible)
- Evacuate the area of the fire or spill.
- Do not use elevators.
- Check the evacuation area to ensure that it is safe.
- Call 72000 and report the emergency: location of fire
and/or spill, and if appropriate time name of material
released.
Lockdown
- Immediately go to the closest safe room (identified by
the logo above) or other lockable location.
- Sit on the floor
- Await contact by safety officials.
Medical
- Dial 72000 and report the nature of the illness or
injury and the location.
- Provide assistance as appropriate.
