Jody Valentine

Jody Valentine studies gender and sexuality in the Ancient Mediterranean.  She is interested in the afterlife of antiquity today and how study of the past enriches our understanding of the present.  She is currently working on a project titled “What is a Classic?” that critically examines racism in the field of classics by tracing the history of scholarship on the iconic poet Sappho of Lesbos.
