Save the date to join Biology Professor Jonathan Wright onboard the Polaris for seven days and nights in Galapagos, exploring the natural wonders of this unique setting. SOLD OUT

The Peruvian Highlands ~ September 13-27, 2009
Ralph Bolton ’61, professor of anthropology, will lead a trip focused on the Altiplano of Southern Peru where he was a Peace Corps volunteer in the 1960s. Today he works in conjunction with Pomona College student volunteers in communities around Lake Titicaca carrying out projects in agriculture, health, education, tourism and arts and crafts. Visits to rural villages will be featured, including meetings and fiestas with Andean villagers, for an up-close look at problems of development.

The Changing Face of Vietnam ~ October 15-27, 2009
Hung Cam Thai, assistant professor of sociology and Asian studies, will be leading a trip to Vietnam—including time spent in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, among other locations—focusing on how that nation is changing in response to the global economy.

The Panama Canal & the Wonders of Costa Rica - January 6-13, 2007
The legendary Panama Canal, tropical rain forest trails of Panama's Isla Coiba, and kayaking along the wildlife-rich coastlines of Costa Rica’s Golfo Dulce with Music Professor Katherine Hagedorn highlighted this cruise through the world's most beautiful settings, with wildlife as diverse as the landscape, including three-toed sloths, iguanas, and various species of monkeys, birds, and tropical fish.

Best of the Bay Cruise - October 23-30, 2006
Professor Emeritus Thomas Pinney joined alumni on a truly unique small-ship cruise through the San Francisco Bay Area, with stops in Napa, San Francisco, Sonoma, and Sausalito. A host of renowned Bay Area master chefs heightened the dining experience, and excursions in Napa featured private tastings at the wineries of local Pomona College alumni vintners.

The Heart of Germany by Riverboat ~ August 1-15, 2006    
Alumni joined President David Oxtoby, and his wife, Claire, on a riverboat cruise through the heart of Germany, from Passau to Mainz, with extended stays in Munich and Heidelberg. Throughout the cruise along the Romantic Road and during daily shore excursions, they visited medieval towns with gothic and renaissance architecture, vineyard-covered and castle-crowned hills, and historical places of exceptional charm and beauty.

Extremadura: The Route of the Americas: The Conquistadores of Western Spain - May 18-30, 2006
Alumni explored Spain of the Conquistadores with a spring walking tour through southwestern Spain led by History Professor Ken Wolf.

Mediterranean Solar Eclipse Cruise - March 21-April 1, 2006    
Astronomy and Physics Professor Alma Zook ’72 joined alumni on a cruise along the path of a total solar eclipse through the Mediterranean from Spain to Malta.

Intra-Coastal Waterways Cruise along the Eastern Seaboard - March 12-19, 2005
Alumni sailed through protected waters amid abundant wildlife and stately mansions from Charleston to Beaufort, Savannah, Brunswick, Fernandina Beach, and Jacksonville to see the treasures of the Antebellum South.

Exploring Alaska's Coastal Wilderness - July 4-11, 2004: A Family Adventure with Jonathan Wright, Associate Professor of Biology.
Alumni and their families sailed from Juneau to Sitka, enjoying kayaking, hiking, and a tour of the spectacular Glacier Bay.

Southern France - June 13-26, 2004: Art, Food and Wine of Southern France and Northern Italy
Alumni wandered the fertile vineyards of Provence during five days at the the Chateau de Berne. They then boarded the SeaDream II for seven days of cruising along the French and Italian Rivieras,  with ports of call in Portofino, Livorno (Florence), St. Tropez, Cannes, Cassis, and Monte Carlo.

The White Continent: A Cruise to Antarctica - January 2-15, 2004
Alumni sailed to the end of the earth aboard the “Explorer II”, and enjoyed two weeks amid the unspoiled beauty and grandeur of the last place on earth that remains truly undiscovered.

In the Wake of Lewis & Clark - October 24-30, 2003
Alumni traveled from the Columbia River mouth to Idaho on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

South American Odyssey - August 1 - 23, 2003
Alumni sailed the pristine waters of the Galapagos Islands aboard Lindblad Expeditions' Polaris. Alumni continued sailing to Peru to explore the ruins of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Pichu. 

Holy Week in Andalucia - April 10-2, 2003
Alumni walked through Spain’s southern countryside with Pomona Professor of History, Ken Wolf. They witnessed the world-famous semana santa (“holy week”) celebrations with elaborate and colorful processions.

Po River Cruise, Italy - May 24 - June 8, 2002
Alumni toured Florence, Milan, Venice, and cruise the Po River with George Gorse, Professor of Art and Art History.

with Jonathan Wright, Associate Professor of Biology.

Elbe River Cruise - July 2001
with Graydon Beeks '69, Professor of Music.

Solar Eclipse in Zimbabwe - June 2001
with Bryan Penprase, Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy.
