Student Employment Eligibility
Student employees at Pomona College are part-time employees whose primary purpose for being at the College is to earn a degree. As such, a student employment position is intended to be secondary to the completion of your Pomona College degree. All regularly-enrolled Pomona College students, who are eligible to work in the United States, have the opportunity to participate in the Student Employment Program.
Pomona College offers a student work allotment to all eligible students, regardless of financial aid status. Each student is granted a work allotment that can range between $1,200 and $2,400 depending on the student's level of financial need. Students who are recipients of financial aid are awarded a need-based student work allotment of $2,400. This work award will usually appear on the student's Offer of Financial Aid. Students who do not have demonstrated financial need, or who may have an outside award that replaced or reduced the need-based work award, will be eligible to earn up to $1,200 during the 2012-2013 academic year. To check your allotment on my.pomona.edu, please refer to the instructions in How to Access My Student Employment Information on the Portal [pdf] .
The Financial Aid Office awards and monitors work allotments and earnings throughout the year. Students are responsible for planning their work schedule in accordance with their work allotment. Regular notifications are sent to all students who have less than $300 left to earn through the work program. Upon reaching the awarded allotment, the student will be terminated through the College Payroll system, automatically. Please discuss allotment increases with your supervisor. Although requests for allotment increases may be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by your hiring supervisor, we cannot guarantee that such requests will be granted.
