Title IX: Sexual Assault and Misconduct Resources
7-C Sexual Misconduct Resources Website (a centralized website with information for all the Claremont Colleges, including on-campus and off-campus resources)
Pomona College strives to maintain an environment which is free from discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment and sexual misconduct. Sexual misconduct is a distinct form of sexual harassment. Pomona College maintains several policies related to discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct which can be found in the student, faculty, and staff handbooks (for the link to the policies in the Student Handbook, click here).
If you believe you have been subject to discrimination, harassment, and/or sexual misconduct by a student, faculty member, or staff member from one of The Claremont Colleges other than Pomona College, please speak with the Title IX Coordinator or one of the Grievance officers (see below for contact information). Students can also contact the On-Call Dean (contacted through Campus Safety at 909-607-2000) or a Dean in the Dean of Students office. They will assist you in exploring your options for responding to the conduct, provide you with information about support resources, and assist you in reporting the incident to the other institution and/or the police, if you choose to do so. You may also speak with Pomona College’s Ombuds or the Student Advocates for Survivors of Sexual Assault, which are confidential resources on campus. For more information about resources and options for responding to sexual misconduct please visit The Claremont Colleges’ sexual misconduct website.
Creating a safe campus environment is the responsibility of all members of the College community, both individually and collectively. Pomona College encourages all members of our community to seek support for and report all discrimination and harassment and/or sexual harassment and sexual misconduct directly to Campus Safety, the Title IX Coordinator, or the College’s Grievance Officers (see below for contact information). In response to any reported discrimination, harassment, and/or sexual misconduct, the College will take all appropriate steps to eliminate the misconduct, prevent its recurrence and address its effects. The College respects the inherent dignity of all individuals involved and will carefully review and/or investigate all reports to understand the perspective and experiences of each individual, and provide for fair and impartial evaluation and resolution.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) prohibits sex (gender-based) discrimination and harassment in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial funding.
