Shopping and "The Village"

ReCoop

Why buy new when you can buy something just as good for much cheaper?

The student-run ReCoop program, part of the Sustainability Integration Office, sells used furniture, appliances, and other dorm room items. Each year ReCoop takes donations and conducts the Clean Sweep program, which collects unwanted items when students leave campus in the spring. At the beginning of each academic year, they sell these items – including couches, chairs, fans, tvs, refrigerators, fans, lamps, and much, MUCH more – back to students at a nominal cost. If you need these items, we strongly suggest you consider purchasing these items from ReCoop before buying new. ReCoop hosts a large sale on move-in day, along with a variety of other events throughout the year, including the book sale, the Halloween sale, and more. ReCoop is located in Walker Residence Hall Lounge, though their large sales are often elsewhere.

In “The Village” there are banks, a savings and loan, a credit union, a drugstore, a record store, a sporting goods store, a bike shop, clothing stores, dry cleaners, a shoe repair shop, florists, gift shops, bakeries, restaurants, boutiques and a movie theater.  For more information visit their website at www.thevillageclaremont.com.

Shopping Centers

Montclair Plaza is the most convenient large shopping mall within bicycling distance.  There are also a number of supermarkets and smaller shopping centers located in the vicinity, as well as Target and Wal-Mart.
