Research Interests

I study animal reproductive behavior—both the function of behaviors such
as animal language and other displays and what hormonal mechanisms underlie them. I do this in the field (in the US and Central America) and lab with
songbirds. My students and I are also working on a study of the development
of transgender identity in humans.
