The Health Education Outreach Office at the Claremont Colleges also provides leadership in health education through student programming, as well as training all Resident Advisors in emergency procedures

Hospitals
In cases of emergency or for special services, two nearby hospitals are available:

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (909) 865-9500
San Antonio Community Hospital (909) 985-2811

On-Campus Medical Services
The Student Health Service, located in the Student Services Center, is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from l:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the school year. Among its services, it provides health education, gynecological and contraceptive consultation, minor outpatient surgery, blood tests, X-rays, electrocardiograms, and allergy shots. After hours, on weekends and in emergencies, students may contact their RA, Campus Safety, or one of the two hospitals listed above. Student Health Services has a medical provider on-call after business hours, available through Campus Safety, 909 607-2000.

Student Escort Service
A student-run escort service is available every night from 7:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. for students who would otherwise walk alone. The service can be reached at extension (909) 607-2101. The escorts are students hired and trained specifically to provide this service.

Medical Insurance
Effective fall 2008, Pomona College requires all incoming students to carry health insurance. Students can either enroll in the Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan (SASIP) of the Claremont Colleges or waive out if they carry comparable alternative insurance (waiver forms will be required each year you are an enrolled student). The SASIP plan covers medical expenses off campus, such as hospitalization, surgery, and accidental injury. Information about the policy can be obtained through the Office of Student Affairs or at www.renstudent.com/claremont . Continuing students do not need to show proof of insurance, but every student should be covered by medical insurance — whether a family policy, other coverage, or this policy. For continuing students, health insurance is required prior to participation in varsity or club sports, or participating in OTL trips. If a student needs insurance but cannot afford it, the Financial Aid Office may be able to help. Contact the Financial Aid office at extension 18205.

Campus Safety
The Department of Campus Safety of The Claremont Colleges located at 251 E. 11th Street, has 22 full-time and 28 part-time employees, specifically trained and responsible for a full range of public safety services including: crime reports; apprehension and arrest of suspects; response to fire and medical emergencies; and escort services. The office provides services 24 hours a day throughout the year. The phone number for Campus Safety is (909) 607-2000.

The Monsour Counseling Center is the counseling and mental health resource for all seven of the Claremont Colleges. Services are available to any enrolled student at no charge. All counseling services are provided confidentially. Services include short-term therapy, group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation and structured workshops.
