Sports Report
Women’s Soccer
(8-6-2 overall, 5-5-2 SCIAC)
Fielding a team with 10 first years and seven sophomores, the Sagehens
took fifth place in the SCIAC regular season. Three Sagehens were
honored with All-SCIAC selections. Sophomore Elli Seo and freshman
Chelsea Muir took home first team honors, while junior Angie Martinez
took home second team honors.
Men’s Cross Country
(4-3 SCIAC)
The Sagehens finished tied for third place in conference. Torrey Olson
and Ian Monsma were named to the All-SCIAC second team.
Women’s Cross Country
(4-3 SCIAC)
Sophomore Alicia Freese was named SCIAC Runner of the Year after she won
the SCIAC Championship meet. Joining Freese on the first team All-SCIAC
list was Claire Ryan ’10 (eighth), plus one second team All-SCIAC
runner, Rose Haag ’10. Freese finished in sixth place at regionals,
qualifying for nationals, where she finished 47th. She was named to the
All-West region team.
Football
(2-7 overall, 1-6 SCIAC)
Senior Zach Landman was honored with the John Zinda Award and
freshman quarterback Jacob Caron was given the Newcomer of the Year
Award. Landman and senior Eddie Pickett were named to the All-SCIAC
first team, while Colin Regan was named to the second team.
Volleyball
(12-11 overall, 7-7 SCIAC)
Megan Prior was named to the All-SCIAC first team along with Pitzer
junior Ruchi Patel. Freshman Erin Saliba was named to the All-SCIAC
second team. Prior was also named to the All-West region team.
Men’s Water Polo
(17-17 overall, 9-1 SCIAC)
Men’s Water Polo won the SCIAC Championship for the first time since
1980. In the WWPA (Western Water Polo Association) tournament, featuring
Division I and Division III, the Sagehens finished in seventh place out
of eight teams. Senior David Mock was named SCIAC Player of the Year and
also landed a spot on the All-WWPA second team. Ryan Balikian was named
to the
All-Freshman team and to the All-SCIAC first team, along with Grant
Cooper. Ben Hadley was named to the SCIAC second team.
Men’s Soccer
(5-12-1 overall, 4-8-1 SCIAC)
With the team finishing sixth in SCIAC, sophomore Andrew Stamm and
freshman Eben Perkins were named to the All-SCIAC second team.
