Art & Art History |
| The Department
of Art and Art History seeks a practicing artist for a
Tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor
for a position in lens-based photography. Fluency in the
theoretical, conceptual and historical discourses
surrounding photography a must. Other adjacent areas of
expertise in video, film or historical methods welcomed.
M.F.A. required; teaching experience preferred. Pomona
College, the founding member of the Claremont Colleges, is a

active artists; each overseeing their own discipline with a
2/2 teaching load while participating collectively in the
development of the art majors. A new facility for the visual

Chemistry |
|
The
Chemistry department at Pomona College, a member of the
Claremont Colleges invites applications for a position
beginning July 1, 2009. While we seek to hire at the rank of
Associate or Full Professor with tenure, candidates at the
Assistant Professor level with an exceptional record of
teaching and research, including publications and successful
grant writing will also be considered. Teaching
responsibilities will include introductory and advanced
courses in organic chemistry. Demonstrated expertise in NMR
Spectroscopy is highly desirable. The appointee will be
expected to initiate and sustain an externally funded
research program that involves active participation of

Classics |
Pomona College
invites applications for a tenure-track position in
Classics, to begin in the academic year 2009-10. The
successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities in
the Department of Classics and the Department of History.
The Department of Classics is part of the intercollegiate
Classics program of the Claremont Colleges, which consists
of six full-time positions and draws on faculty in allied
disciplines. The Pomona College History Department, made up
of eleven full-time positions, offers a curriculum that
emphasizes cultural diversity and cross-cultural
connections.
Candidates should be specialists in Greek history who have
an excellent command of both Greek and Latin languages and a
breadth of knowledge in Greek and Roman literature. Teaching
responsibilities include courses in Greek and Latin
languages and literature as well as courses in Greek and
Roman History, in particular a survey of the ancient
Mediterranean. An additional interest in ancient
civilizations other than Greece and Rome is desirable. Ph.D.
preferred; ABD's who will complete their dissertation by

Dance |
The Pomona
College Dance Program, Department of Theatre and Dance,
invites applications for a tenure-track position in the
teaching of Dance History and Cultural Studies at the
assistant professor level, beginning July 1, 2009. The
successful candidate will be responsible for teaching
Traditions of World Dance, two studio courses which focus on
one or more cultural styles, and one course from among the
following: Freshman Seminar (writing intensive theme-based
course), History of American Concert Dance, Dance of the
Spectator, or other area of related interest. The position
requires the PhD degree as well as a demonstrated
specialization in one or more cultural dance forms. The
candidate will be expected to provide leadership and vision
for the study of movement in a broad cultural context and to
further the active participation of the Pomona Dance Program
in dynamic interdisciplinary activity throughout the five
Claremont Colleges. The candidate must have college teaching
experience (beyond graduate assistantships) as well as
evidence of scholarly research and/or professional
performing experience.

and E0 Macroeconomics
Pomona College expects to make a full-time tenure-track
appointment at the assistant professor level to begin in
academic year 2009-10. We are interested in applicants who
specialize in empirical macroeconomics and are strong in
econometrics. They will be expected to teach both
undergraduate macroeconomics and econometrics. They are also
expected to have completed or be near completion of the
Ph.D. degree.
Pomona College, the founding member of the Claremont

Physical Education |
The Physical Education
Department is currently accepting applications to fill an
instructor of Physical Education/Head Coach of Men’s and
Women’s Swimming and Diving vacancy with a preferred
starting date of August 1, 2008. This is an interim
position, and the successful candidate will be offered a one
year appointment. Responsibilities will include managing
all aspects of Pomona-Pitzer’s NCAA Division III men’s and
women’s swimming and diving programs and assigned
administrative duties, and may include teaching activity
classes in the physical education program. The department
is particularly interested in candidates who have experience
working with students from diverse backgrounds and a
demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher
education for underrepresented students.
Pomona and Pitzer Colleges are members of the Claremont
Colleges consortium located in Southern California,
approximately 40 miles east of Los Angeles. The Pomona-Pitzer
Athletic Program consists of 20 intercollegiate teams and is
