- PACS is accepting President's Sustainability Fund applications for student-led projects to improve the sustainability of Pomona College's operations and infrastructure. Applications are due November 16. Check here for eligibility requirements and project proposal guide and checklist.
- Sustainability Integration Office (SIO) office hours The SIO is open for operation Monday through Friday 8-5. Come by to checkout a drying rack, compost bucket, Greenware for your event, to pick up a CFL lightbulb, or to have your sustainability questions answered.

- Greenware program brings free reusable diningware to campus events! Groups on campus can check out Greenware kits with reusable plates, bowls, silverware, compost supplies, and more for use at campus events. The Sustainability Integration Office provides these materials for free, and dirty diningware is washed in the dining halls after each event. Want to know more? See the SIO checkout program website.
- ReCoopOFFICE is here! The Sustainability Integration Office's ReCoop program provides an exchange service for unwanted surplus items from paperclips to furniture owned by College Departments and Offices. Please contact the Sustainability Integration Office to arrange to donate or view furniture.

Pomona is a STARS Gold rated institution Pomona College received a Gold Rating from the STARS program run by AASHE, the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System™, is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance. Each STARS rating, valid for five years, is an indication of sustainability leadership in higher education. The Pomona College community should be very proud of this achievement, and of course strive to improve even more in future years! Want to know exactly how we received this rating? Pomona hires new Director of Sustainability Pomona College hired Ginny Routhe in September to fill the vacant position to direct the sustainability efforts on Pomona College's campus. Routhe hopes to drive leadership in sustainability by providing structure and broad vision to the campus's sustainability goals. See more about this exciting news here.
PSF grants promote sustainability projects Past projects that received PSF money include drying racks in the residence hall laundry rooms, native landscaping at Sontag Hall and Frary and post-consumer composting in the dining halls. “The hope of the PSF is that with that initial fund, the project will be kick-started and then become institutionalized, because the projects are supposed to be infrastructural and affect how the college functions systemically,” Carr said. Food Day aims for sustainability at Pomona Pomona for Environmental Activism and Responsibility (PEAR) brought National Food Day to campus this week, aiming to show students that there are more considerations when dining than just the choice between soup or salad.
